Art, On-The-Go

By Sydney | Jul 27 2012

After seeing a cascade of trendy food trucks ebb in and out of SoHo, we were surprised to spot a new kind of truck around the corner from our flagship store—a gallery truck, dubbed 83rd Anomaly.

Its black façade may appear intimidating at first sight, but muster up the courage to venture inside and you’ll find madcap designs from the art studio Convoluted Construct.

We spoke with the Convoluted Construct artists (that’s a mouthful) to find out more about the inspiration behind this project: “Our idea for the traveling gallery comes from the constant search for gallery space in NYC. If you can’t find it, why not create it?”

The artwork combines dream-like landscapes, graphic illustrations and brushes of color that create a fantastical world reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland. Many of the paintings are silk-screened onto T-shirts, blurring the line between fashion and art.

We're totally on-board with the communal and start-up spirit of this cool summer project.

The 83rd Anomaly truck will be roaming the city streets all summer. Check the Convoluted Construct website for the full docking schedule, and let us know what you think!
