Thanks to a lengthy renovation, the prestigious Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague, is lending masterpieces – some that haven't traveled this side of the Atlantic in nearly 30 years! The Frick Collection is the last stop on the American Tour – and we couldn't be more thrilled to see them this weekend.
In addition to the infamous Girl with a Pearl Earring (she get's her own showing in the Oval Room), they will be showcasing a total of 15 masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Fabritius, Hal, Claesz, Maes, and more.
The pieces were born in the midst of The Dutch Golden Age - a period know for it's realism, from light to subject matter. We are in awe of the detailed and lifelike textures, from silk gowns to silver cutlery.
