All morning we've been helping our Urban Tag Sale friends unload their treasures into our space for the event tomorrow, and we can't wait to share all their amazing vintage pieces with you! Stay tuned to Christiane's twitter to see live updates. Today we're chatting with Danielle and Jessica of Decorative Traces about their love of art history, homemade gifts and the genius of sisal rugs.

Where are you from originally?

Jessica: Western Massachusetts

Danielle: Northern New Jersey

Where do you live now?

J + D: Manhattan

What’s your decorating style?

J + D: As designers and historians, we believe that cultivated space is the key to inspired living. In collaboration with our clients, Decorative Traces specializes in achieving highly personalized interiors with keen attention to detail and historical precedence. Central to our approach is mixing traditional and contemporary furnishings, then further refining space through curated selections of art, objects, vintage and antique items.

In short:

Curated; intentional; livable; sophisticated; modern; traditional; worldly; urbane

Current inspirations:

J: The desert, the American west, and Robert Smithson.

D: The Italian Renaissance garden, the sixties, and Abraham Lincoln.

Best tip for visiting flea markets?

J + D: Have an idea of what you want to find to stay focused and avoid buying something you really don’t need. That being said, keep an open mind because flea markets are wonderful opportunities to discover something new.

Favorite local shops:

J + D: Gallery BAC, Flair, Maison Gerard, Pearl River Mart.

Favorite decorating trick:

J + D: When in doubt, use a sisal rug.

3 things you cannot live without:

J + D: Yoga. Van Morrison. Our library.

As a part of our Urban Tag Sale this Saturday, we're introducing you to some of the lovely editors and stylemakers who will be on-hand during the event. First up is Eugenia Santiesteban Soto. As the awesome style director at Veranda (one of our favorite magazines), Eugenia is sure to have a table filled with unique decorative accessories and vintage finds!

Where are you from originally?

Coral Gables, Florida

Where do you live now?

Currently living in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

Flea market tips:

Go early in the morning, dress down (way down), and leave your husband at home so you can move faster.

Decorating style:

I just moved into a new apt and painted it all white! It's a bit of a departure for me, but I'm going for a neutral/natural materials thing with a touch of modern. I am very inspired by the new atelier AM book.

Favorite decorating trick:

Throw a Greek key trim on anything to dress it up--like store bought curtains.

Favorite local shops:

Greenhouse on Atlantic in Brooklyn has beautiful linens and tabletop, and also love Holler & Squall on Atlantic for antique furniture. There's a glass-fronted bookcase in there now that I've been eyeing. And Aero in Manhattan, always.

Favorite restaurant:

Lucalis on Henry street and Frankies 457.

Go-to Hostess Gift

Alcohol is always good! I've been obsessed with negronis all summer so have been brining Dollin vermouth, it's the best!

3 things you can't live without?

Eggs for breakfast, striped linen fabric, and my many plates!

Current inspirations:

Vintage Alexander Calder jewelry, atelier AM, and the Pre-Raphaelites show at the Tate in London. Ive just seen some of the images on the website and it's so beautiful! I've got to get over there before it's over.
