A true style and design icon—Albert Hadley—passed away over the weekend. Hadley had a unique flair for creating modern, bold and sophisticated interiors that drew on his extensive historical design knowledge. Even while decorating the apartments and grand estates of renowned society greats—Astor, Whitney, Paley, Rockefeller, Getty—Hadley remained a consummate student. Hadley's passion for education and extensive body of work is a primer for living with grace. Layering texture and art with elegance and livability, Hadley's philosophy resonates in my own designs.
Daring, creative and intelligent—Albert Hadley, you will be missed.
Here's a few of my favorite interiors from Hadley’s extensive roster—from the Kennedy White House to Brooke Astor's library.
