The 2012 Olympics-craze is in full force here at DwellStudio. Are any of you heading to London for the games? On a little side note... I’m heading to London for the Olympics next week—so exciting! As part of my travel research, I’ve been reading up on all the awesome art and design happenings that I’m hoping to take in (between the events, of course!). Here’s a mini-guide to the non-sporting musts in London.
If you love unique and madcap antique finds (like our founder Christiane)— you’ll have your fill at Alfie’s Antique Market. This old-school market is stocked to the hilt with amazing vintage pieces. Plus, we hear Alfie’s has a trendy rooftop café for those post-shopping alfresco munchies.
One of the Olympic sights I'm looking forward to seeing is the Zara Hadid-designed Aquatics Center. We love this innovative architect here at DwellStudio. Her sweeping structures are impressive feats of industrial design with fierce style.
This stately home plays host to a range of exhibits throughout the year. As huge fans of Downton Abby, we're excited to get our fix of proper Brit-manners by way of ceramicist Edmund de Waal’s latest porcelain exhibition. We're anticipating an opulent journey in a baroque lifestyle!
The Damien Hirst Exhibit: We're always intrigued by Damien Hirst's renegade artistic style from his colorful dot explorations to his avant-garde animal sculptures, this retrospective is a top priority.
And the Tino Seghal Exhibition: This provocative installation artist explores the cross-section between public and private with his innovative performance art pieces. It's sure to be mysterious and fascinating.
P.S. What would you see? We would love to know!
